Parnelli Jones pushing his Boss hard. He dominated the 1970 Trans Am series. Found this picture !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! There are a number of other interesting racing pics and descriptions there as well.

He only dominated in 1970 due to the power team of Penske/Donahue switched from Camaro’s to Javelin’s and had to figure out the cars problems. Though that pic there is from Riverside and was probably the most exciting win in the golden era of Trans Am. Had the lead, got wrecked by a lapped down car and then man handled the broken mustang back to the lead to win.

Has anyone found any instrumented tests to see what these things pull on the skidpad? I’ve seen comparisons vs newer cars and lap times, but I’ve always wanted to know exactly how well the old Trans Am cars handled.

No, but I'm sure th data is it there. I've read that Penske was a big proponent of the skid pad back in the day.

Whenever my old man was in the car, and I was driving too fast he’d yell, “Hey Parnelli, slow down!”
